It's official! Fans of CBS' hit soap opera can breathe a huge sigh of relief, as the network has committed to daytime excellence by renewing its groundbreaking series, Beyond the Gates, for two more years. The show is now secured through the 2027–2028 television season.
The renewal marks a major vote of confidence in one of the most culturally significant and talked about series on television today.
News broke on Wednesday that Daytime's newest soap and first Black soap opera since NBC's short-lived "Generations" would live on for at least two more years, putting to rest the anxiety that had grown in the last few weeks amid the Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger.
Since its debut in February 2025, Beyond the Gates has redefined the Daytime television landscape, making history with its focus centered on a prominent Black family. Fans have been very vocal, taking to social media to show their support and express their enthusiasm for the show helmed by creator and executive producer Michelle Val Jean.
The sudser, led by powerhouses Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis, is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside Washington, DC, and follows the Duprees, "a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty".
The series has steadily increased its broadcast and streaming viewership in its time slot and has also outperformed ABC's General Hospital in key demographics, making the collaboration between CBS Studios, the NAACP Venture, and P&G Studios a huge success.
Key players include Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld, and Lela Coffey.
"Beyond The Gates immediately improved the time period, has enthusiastically been embraced by the daytime community, and is getting good critical acclaim in the press," CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach shared during a press briefing.
The renewal not only ensures more unforgettable twists and emotional moments but also reinforces CBS's commitment to diverse, inclusive storytelling that reflects the richness of its Daytime audience. As Anita Dupree and her family continue to navigate ambition, loyalty, and legacy, fans can expect even higher stakes, deeper secrets, and more unforgettable drama in the seasons ahead.
In June, fans can expect a major multi-episode crossover between Beyond the Gates and CBS' number 1 soap, The Young and the Restless. The crossover will see six legacy characters from Y&R's Genoa City pop up in BTG's posh gated community, Fairmont Crest, when Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) asks one of his closest allies, the legendary Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), to serve as the keynote speaker for his grandson Martin's (Brandon Claybon) fundraiser. Expect major drama, "triggering dramatic consequences that will impact every guest in attendance."
New episodes of Beyond the Gates air weekdays on CBS at 2 pm ET, with episodes available to stream on Paramount+.
