Honey Bunny is the exciting, ambitious entry into the franchise, bringing its own flavor to the universe as directors Raj and DK put their personal stamp on the action scenes and intense hand-to-hand combats. The stunts were well choreographed, amplifying the intensity of the series. Dhawan and Prabhu have excellent chemistry, and Prabhu holds her own with the action sequences, especially in a pivotal moment in episode 3. While Dhawan is given plenty of screentime to be the star, Prabhu shines with a consistent mix of vulnerability and fierce determination, especially in scenes with her daughter, providing backstory for Nadia (who led the first series of Citadel with Priyanka Chopra playing the adult Nadia along with Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville.
The latest entry captures the charm of a spy action thriller as the series jumps back and forth between 1992 and 2000, showcasing exciting drama and suspense. Honey Bunny follows similar plots of the previous series as our heroes are tasked with a mission to retrieve Armada. While predictable, the characters are refreshingly relatable, and dare I say, more relatable than their predecessors. The cinematography is beautiful, and the ending gives us a cliffhanger that promises we have not seen the last of these characters.
