CBS' hit comedy series "Ghosts" is back for Season 5, bringing new laughs, spooky chaos, and heartwarming moments for Samantha, Jay, and the ghostly residents of Woodstone Manor. This season will carry 22 episodes through its season finale on April 26, and fans can rest easy as Season 6 was already announced as part of its double renewal back in February.
Inspired by the BBC series of the same name by creators Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, "Ghosts" first premiered in 2021 and follows Samantha and Jay, a freelance journalist and chef from the city who convert Woodstone Mansion, which Sam inherited, into a bed & breakfast – only to find it inhabited by an eclectic group of spirits only Samantha can see and hear.
The series once again delves into the humorous and chaotic lives of Sam and Jay as they interact with the ghosts of people from different eras of history, with hilarious results. The departed souls are a close-knit, spectral group that includes a saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer, a pompous 18th-century militiaman, a '60s hippie fond of hallucinogens, an overly upbeat '80s scout troop leader, a cod-obsessed Viking explorer from 1009, a slick '90s finance bro, a sarcastic and witty native from the 16th century, and a society woman and wife of a 19th-century robber baron who is Sam's ancestor, to name a few.
Season 5 picks up after Season 4's cliffhanger that saw Jay unwillingly sell his soul to a demon to ensure the success of his new restaurant. In tonight's opener, titled "Soul Custody," Sam, Jay, and the ghosts attempt to extricate Jay from his deal with Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh), the devil. Also, Isaac helps Patience (Mary Holland) through a crisis of confidence, and Pete and Alberta navigate the fallout from their kiss.

The Season 5 cast includes:
Rose McIver as Samantha Arondekar
Utkarsh Ambudkar as Jay Arondekar
Brandon Scott Jones as Isaac Higgintoot
Danielle Pinnock as Alberta Haynes
Richie Moriarty as Pete Martino
Asher Grodman as Trevor Lefkowitz
Sheila Carrasco as Flower
Devan Chandler Long as Thorfinn
Rebecca Wisocky as Hetty Woodstone
Román Zaragoza as Sasappis
The new season ramps up the supernatural hijinks as the couple tries to balance their new restaurant, "Mahesh," with the daily antics of their eclectic roommates, providing a perfect mix of humor and heart. Fans can look forward to a couple of special holiday treats, including a Halloween special titled "The Mummy," which will premiere on October 30. Sam and Jay's Halloween takes a spooky turn when they accidentally unleash a mummy ghost. Additionally, there will also be a special two-part Christmas episode.
This season introduces exciting new ghosts and secrets, leading to fresh challenges and supernatural twists for our special residents as they continue to navigate living together under one roof, for another season of fun and hilarious entertainment.
The Season 5 premiere of "Ghosts" premieres tonight on CBS at 8:30 EST. New episodes release on Thursdays and are available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
