Among all the new series premiering this year, "Ballard" is at the top of the list. The highly anticipated series continues the "Bosch" legacy starring Maggie Q as titular Detective Reneé Ballard, headlining her own series. "Ballard", a spinoff of Prime Video's long-running "Bosch", will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on July 9 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, with all 10 episodes releasing at once.

Based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novels, "Ballard" follows Detective Renée Ballard as she leads the LAPD's new and underfunded cold case division, tackling the city's most challenging long-forgotten crimes with empathy and relentless determination. Titus Welliver, who played LAPD detective Harry Bosch for 10 seasons on "Bosch" and "Bosch: Legacy," makes a cameo appearance to lend a helping hand. As a huge fan of "Bosch" who was deeply saddened when the series ended in March earlier this year, it was thrilling to see Titus Welliver again.

The official synopsis reveals that as Ballard peels back layers of crime spanning decades, she finds herself in a high-stakes race against time, confronting both the ghosts of victims past and the very real dangers of the present. As the cases evolve they pull her closer to her own demons and the reason she won't give up her job no matter what the department throws at her.

In addition to Q, rounding out the cast are Courtney Taylor, who is an absolute delight as Samira Parker, John Carroll Lynch as Thomas Laffont, Michael Mosley as Ted Rawls, Rebecca Field as Colleen Hatteras, Victoria Moroles as Martina Castro, Amy Hill as Tutu, Noah Bean as Jake Pearlman, Hector Hugo as Captain Berchem, Ricardo Chavira as Robert Olivas and Alain Uy as Nelson Hastings.

Created by Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood, "Ballard" is a fantastic addition to the "Bosch" franchise featuring the right amount of grit, drama, action, and suspense worthy of its predecessor, but even better, it works as a great stand alone series worthy of its own accolades. The series provides Q with plenty of material to work with. While the series centers around the standard serial killer, it evolves into a huge umbrella storyline with several moving parts and interconnecting stories, with twists and turns that elevate the series from an average police procedural to a deeply compelling one.

Maggie Q has never been better embodying the character with empathy and compassion while seeking justice and uncovering police corruption in a larger conspiracy. She is determined, resilient, and that's what we love in our heroines. Ballard proves she's more than capable of taking up the mantle Bosch left behind and carving out her own prominent legacy within the franchise.

All episodes of Ballard are available to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
