Anthony Mackie is heading back to the big screen with the new action-packed historical epic, Desert Warrior. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the film places Anthony Mackie at the center of a sweeping story set in seventh-century Arabia.
The film follows a rebellious princess who escapes the rule of a ruthless empire and finds an unlikely ally in a mysterious desert warrior named Hanzala, played by Mackie. Together, they work to unite rival tribes and build a resistance strong enough to challenge the empire’s growing power. The story blends large-scale battle sequences with a narrative about leadership, loyalty, and the fight for freedom.
Joining Mackie are Aiysha Hart, Ben Kingsley, Sharlto Copley, and Ghassan Massoud, bringing together an international ensemble for the ambitious production.
Desert Warrior was filmed in the futuristic desert region of NEOM and is produced by MBC Studios and AGC Studios. The film is considered one of the largest international productions shot in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the country’s growing role in global filmmaking.
With epic landscapes and a powerful story of resistance, Desert Warrior aims to deliver a cinematic adventure that blends history, legend, and blockbuster spectacle.
The film arrives in theaters on April 24, 2026.
